Leader of the opposition in the book shop

Well ........ I went to look at new pushbikes today to replace the one I had stolen. The week I had a disastrous time at work my bike was also taken so today I thought I'd try and get manageable and serious about buying me a new one.
Embarrassing because I had had my old bike for so long that I can't fathom how to change gears on these new fangled machines..... anyway
afterwards I went to the book shop/cafe to meet a friend for a cuppa and the national leader of the opposition came to have a cuppa with his wife and media entourage (it's his electorate). I attempted to scuttle into a corner but it just happened to be the corner he (and two camera men with cameras rolling) came past. .......... scary. He was like a movie star. How does anyone live like that. Weird. It was like being in a reality tv show except it was reality (well I was in reality), He was sooo clean and his wife was soooo clean and pressed. Sunday afternoon cafe visit. It's quite surreal. He said hello to everyone and made eye contact with me and would have said hello except for the perfected 'stunned mullet' look I had on. I mean I don't know him so it seemed weird to say hi. And anyway I was busy looking at buying a copy of 'Miss Smilias feeling for snow' for a gift for Christmas (yes I start now!- if you were in adrenal burnout you'd be starting now too.... rushing is not an option). My cousin loaned me that book- It was great. I also just finished 'The Glass Castle' which someone gave me for my birthday months ago. It was great. So... as I say I was busy.. and then later I realised I missed the opportunity to tell him that I had recently read his policy on gaming machines and was happy to hear his stand. I work in the area of community education about the impact, prevalence of gambling .. but it was Sunday and as I say I was very busy!......... I hope your year is going swimmingly..
